Why So Many Guys Are Loving Harry's

This New York City startup seems to have found the formula that guys are looking for: five-blade German razors and a lower price point.

Started by two friends from Stanford and Wharton Business schools who felt the whole experience of buying razors was broken, Harry’s has made it their business to change the way we shave. “Andy called me after a trip to the drugstore to tell me how much he had just spent on razor blades, and how he had to wait 15 minutes for someone to open the razor case,” said co-CEO Jeff Raider. “It was an experience that I was all too familiar with, and we felt there had to be a better way.” Together they started looking for other options on the market and realized that you’re forced into a choice of a good shave or a good price – nobody really offered both.

ABOUT HARRY'S

That something was Harry’s, the shaving company that has taken the men’s grooming world by storm since they launched in 2013.

Three years after launching, they continue to take steps to guarantee quality and value for their customers. The first step was purchasing the German factory that makes their blades. By having full control of the manufacturing process, Harry's can maintain the price of their blades, while also implementing customer feedback into making future products even better. “Our customers are our guide. We listen to them, and incorporate their feedback into our products and processes. The result is always better than what existed before,” said Jeff.

But how much less expensive is it?

An 8-pack of Harry's blades is $16 according to their website whereas an 8-pack from the current market leader is about $32. They each have five quality blades, a lubricating strip and a flex hinge which are the most-desired features of a razor, according to surveys. With a cost that's less than half for a great shave, we can see why guys are starting to make the switch.
